A little history about our club,
The Hillman Owners Club was formed in 1980 to looks after the needs of the enthusiast of the Hillman marque and derived cars such as the Chrysler, Talbot, Avenger, Hunter and Sunbeam vehicles, together with export models and Commer and Karrier commercials. 36 years later we still carry the same aims for our members as listed below.
We have members worldwide, however as you might expect with the origins of Hillman and Rootes being United Kingdom based we have the majority of our members in the U.K. Membership is open to any enthusiast, whether they own a vehicle of the marque or not.
TECHNICAL SERVICES: We have Model Registrars who can advise you with technical details to assist you with repairs and maintenance on your particular model.
REGALIA: The club offers members a range of regalia including, Fleeces, Body warmers, Polo shirts, Shirts, T-shirts, Caps, badges and tax disc holders (for the historical tax disc display).
MAGAZINE: Our magazine entitled “Coventry Spires” is published quarterly. It includes many items of interest i.e. articles, area and model reports, members experience, events and meeting details and adverts for cars and parts for sale and wanted.. It is the life line of the club.
ARCC: The Hillman Owners Club was a founder member of the ARCC ( Association of Rootes Car Clubs )which now consists of 11 UK. Clubs and covers the total production of the Rootes Group. Details of activities of this association can be found in “Coventry Spires”.
CLASSIC INSURANCE: We have a special insurance scheme for classic cars, offering very competitive rates for agreed value fully comprehensive policies on limited or unlimited mileage.
INTERNATIONAL RALLY: The club also organises stands at many events and shows throughout the U.K. and participates in the Association of Rootes Car Club gatherings. Some areas of the U.K and overseas are covered by regional organisers, their role is to organise local gatherings, be it at car rallies or social evenings, full details are published in “Coventry Spires”.
